Jacket: Zara Man [I stole this from my boyfriend
I fell in love with this dress as soon as I laid eyes on it, but it also immediately became problematic. It’s completely made out of mesh and came with no insert piece to hide everything going on underneath. I figured the dress was worth the trouble and went on an intensive hunt for a black slip – but I fell short. Oddly enough, I threw the dress on over some jeans and came out with this little number. I decided to keep it low-key casual this New Year instead of falling into the stereotypical glitz and glam that surrounds it. Black and red is timeless. Sadly, these heels are no longer available from Urban, so I was unable to link them, but I added in a cute winter alternative up there. (I scored these babies on a last minute clearance sale for $19
it’s too bad they hurt like a bitch. )
Happy New Year, everyone!
Dress: Urban Outfitters
It was an ongoing joke on the 4th of July to count and see how many people complimented this dress, and there were so many we couldn’t even keep track! It’s just so casually, effortlessly beautiful and elegant. I know I use the term effortless quite a lot, but if I could erase every other time I’ve used it and change the definition of it to this dress, I would. Though the front is very lowcut, thanks to my lack of packages it didn’t seem revealing. It’s very light, breezy and cool in the heat, but does shrink in the wash! I almost lost it when I struggled to button it around my ribs, but as the day went on it loosend back to its original fit. It’s a true beauty!
Sunnies: Forever 21
I know for me, as a nanny, getting up and doing my hair, makeup and the full nine yards isn’t necessary and takes away sleep time for those 530 am wake ups, but I always try to make sure that even when I’m cozy and lounging about for the day, I’m doing it in style! And there’s no better way to do that than some leggings and an oversized knit sweater!
Hat: Urban Outfitters
Hoodie: Juicy Couture
Jeans: Tommy Hilfiger (similar here)
Shoes: Aldo (similar here... on sale!)
Necklace: H&M (similar here)
Black and white is a never ending classic look, and with black jeans a jean jacket is a quick go-to! I love to pair a zip up hoodie sweatshirt like this velvet Juicy Couture one under my jean jackets for an extra bit of warmth and because it always adds that extra bit that just brings everything together. This hat has been one of my favorites for a few years now. Adorable yet chic, Urban Outfitters always has unique accessories! There are a lot of plain neutrals going on here so I thought I’d add in this statement necklace to give the outfit some more edge. One statement piece can change a whole look! I’ve learned in many articles that having good neutral basic pieces in your closet is the best thing you can own, and to buy 5 new statement pieces a season. It couldn’t be more true! I really love the basics collection at H&M; Affordable, comfy and they all fit really well.
This comfy and casual outfit is a must for me! It’s hard to constantly shop and add new items to my wardrobe, so I constantly try to make the best of what I have and create new looks with the some of the same pieces. The more you experiment with the clothes you have the more different looks you can have! Even try and incorporate some old clothes that you don’t really wear anymore but just can’t get rid of; you will be surprised.

So this weekend I did some shopping. Yes, it was a great weekend 🙂 Shopping always warms my heart (haha). Nothing is more exciting than looking forward to wearing something new for the first time, but sometimes, shopping gets difficult. There have been so many times where one shopping trip will result in all of my money gone on one item… So here are some great pieces that I found that are not only affordable, but will enhance your closet.
I found this dress in Urban Outfitters. I just went in to have a look and saw it and thought, what the heck I’ll try it on just because it’s gorgeous. Why not, right? (Take my advice, DON’T do that) I tried it on, and fell in love. It was $70.00. I have no where to really wear it to, but I just couldn’t resist it!
Both the maroon crop top and skirt I bought from Forever 21. They look great together! The top was $6.00 and the Skirt was only $15.00
Fur is really in right now! I saw this at H&M and loved it! They had other colors and types of faux fur vests as well. This was $45.00
This plaid, oversized shirt with knit sweater sleeves was so grungy and cute! It’s from Forever 21 and was $27.00
This adorable skirt is from Francesca’s and was $44.00
Now, I wanted this Nike jacket since last winter, and saw it in FinishLine. It was the last one they had, in my size and I was literally in love. I was with my boyfriend at the mall and was swooning over it, but it was $130.00! I couldn’t bear to cough up that much on one thing (especially when I knew I had a lot more shopping to do! :)) So, my boyfriend ended up just paying for it! (yes, I’m a very luck girl to have him 🙂 xo ) This might be a bank breaker, but I just thought I would share it with you because it is to die for!
Hope these finds are to your liking!
