Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet Looks…

Celebrities wandered through the Billboard Music Awards ‘pink’ carpet in Las Vegas this past Sunday, and this years trend of glitz, skin and thigh high heels is still traveling on. The night was hosted by Ciara who in a matter of three hours, wore seven different outfits and looked unbelievable in every single one. So to start off the list of my best and worst dressed of the night…

Ciara in Philipp Plein – Clearly winning at everything, including Best Side-Boob Award.

demi-lovato

Demi Lovato in Chanel – She’s always pulling off amazing looks that aren’t your typical carpet gowns. Go Demi!

zendaya

Zendaya in Calvin Klein – Can I just mention her brows? *faints*

halsey

Halsey in Fausto Puglisi – I love the off-beat unique-ness of this dress with the change in shoulder straps and array of jeweled designs, and she rocks it!

kelly-rowland

Kelly Rowland in Labourjoisie – Making a debut in the sheer, sequined department, the trends getting a bit old but it’s still stunning and everyone looks so good in it, including her.

mila-kunis

Mila Kunis in Zuhair Murad – Looking like such an adorable gem!

jessica-alba

Jessica Alba also in Zuhair Murad and Stuart Weitzman – (Zuhair Murad is killing it, incase you couldn’t tell)

kesha

Kesha in Gucci – The star typically struts carpets in the most unique of ensembles and she addressed Sunday nights appearance with the same memo, and looks amazing! That fringe – killer. Lets not forget the Gucci shoes *swoon*.

lucy-hale

Lucy Hale in Zuhair Murad – Damn, Murad really is killing it (talk about the understatement of the week). Going to make a mural in his honor next to my bed as we speak.

Now getting to the looks I didn’t quite prefer…

rihanna

Rihanna in vintage Thierry Mugler – I’m sorry, but I was greatly disappointed by this and had to add it in here due to the fact of my disappointment. Rihanna, who is always turning heads at every event for her style choices looked somewhat like a medieval grandma this past weekend, in the most beautiful way, but regardless…

britney-spears

Britney Spears in Reem Acra and Schutz heels – Yes, she’s totally killing it at 34, but this was just not flattering on her at all. She already has short, muscular legs, and the thigh high heels just make her look shorter and stockier. Kudos to her though, for still being the total babe she was in her younger years, now.

kathryn-hahn

Kathryn Hahn in Altuzarra  – This is not at all flattering to her body shape. Not only that, but the abrupt change in design/fabric (looks somewhat like a top and a skirt together) has a strange shape that’s lacking some flow. This could be amazing, just not on her.

Met Gala 2015…

The Met Gala calls for big, elegant, timeless classic gowns. This years was China themed. It’s one of my favourite red carpet events because of the beautiful classic sophisticated looks. The chances of you seeing Miley Cyrus half naked with a blunt in her hand are just extremely unlikely (this, is a good thing my friends). I’m all about tastefulness and so is this night. Here are some of my favourite looks from the carpet that you’ll definitely want to see…

Kim Kardashian West in Robert Cavalli

There were a lot of great dresses at the Met Gala this year, but these are the ones that I thought were not only beautiful, but embraced the classic Met Gala red carpet look and class!

Kanye Strikes Again, This Time With His Sassy Sidekick

Many of us have (probably) watched the 4 hour long 2015 Grammy Awards this past Sunday, and even if you haven’t you’ve most likely seen the infamous disrespectful comments made by Kanye on Beck winning the Best Album award over Beyonce.

If not, here’s the low down:

Beck (a group, to be honest, I’ve never heard of) won the Best Album award over Beyonce. After Kanye’s storming onto stage a few years back when Taylor Swift won over Beyonce, he started to pull the same act, but slowly turned around, laughed, and went back to his seat.

Now I thought, of all things, that he was just joking; simply making a mockery of himself and his stupidity in the past.

No. This, in fact, is not true.

After the show, he fed the media his opinion:

“I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us,” West said (via Vanity Fair). “We ain’t going to play with them no more. ‘Flawless.’ Beyoncé’s video. And Beck needs to respect artistry, and he should have given his award to Beyoncé…At this point, we tired of it. What happens is, when you keep on diminishing art, and not respecting the craft, and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration. We, as musicians, have to inspire people who go to work every day, and they listen to that Beyoncé album, and they feel like it takes them to another place. Then they do this promotional event, and they’ll run the music over somebody’s speech, the artist, because they want commercial advertising. No. We not playing with them anymore. And by the way, I got my wife, my daughter, and I got my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing that would put my daughter at risk, but I am here to fight for creativity. That’s the reason why I didn’t say anything tonight. But you all knew what it meant when ‘Ye walked on that stage.” (Huffington Post)

Lets also recap the buzz around his wife, Kim Kardashian, and her disgusting post on Instagram:

Screen Shot 2015-02-11 at 1.25.32 PM

In all honesty, when I saw this, I truly wanted to vomit.

I can say, as a person who has never heard a piece of Beck’s music in my life, who listens to and enjoy’s Beyonce’s music, THIS REACTION IS BEYOND WRONG and COMPLETELY immature. It’s disgusting and sets such a disgusting example for people watching. Not only is she speaking her opinion, which is fine in ways, just classier ways than this, but she is putting it out there that John Legend and Chrissy Tegan also have these same opinions and reactions, when that isn’t true. She’s creating more drama for other people. Here’s John Legends response to it all … John Legend via Instagram. Everyone has their opinions, their favourites, etc. And Kanye dragged on long about the Grammy’s “respecting artists”, well isn’t that just a contradiction? (*severe sarcastic tone intended*)

He went out of his way on more than one occasion to disrespect other artists and their work, because his butt-buddy didn’t win. And THEN has the audacity to blame it on the Grammy’s. When, the way the Grammy’s work is, other artists vote for who they want to win.

So even if he is angry, has a different opinion, and thinks that Beyonce deserved to win, it doesn’t matter. Other artists that are in the same industry as him and have similar respects to music as him voted for Beck. All because he didn’t get his way doesn’t mean he should go publicly disrespecting other people.

And as for his wife, in her shimmering robe that she wore, who is only famous for being a sex symbol from her sex tape and various actions, she needs to get a grip of herself and her actions because she is plummeting the status of society. She has the money to make a change in society, to donate to charities, to work with the homeless, the starving, to travel and help people, yet she spends her time judging people and subjects she’s clueless about, posting naked pictures and setting a bad example for all young girls who look up to her (including her daughter) and setting a standard for boys around the world, and getting surgeries to enhance her face, ass and breasts. All she knows how to be is self absorbed. Shame on her. And I don’t mean to be the bully in this situation either, she’s a beautiful woman, she can make her own decisions, but that doesn’t make them right or acceptable, yet all at the same time, because she’s making these decisions, they are becoming acceptable. And it truly needs to stop. In more words on this topic, please check out this amazingly written piece by Christine Lee, “An Open Letter to Kim Kardashian“.

Bullying isn’t acceptable. Getting your way isn’t always going to happen. That’s life. A song doesn’t to be played on the radio at least 10 times a day to be the better one. It doesn’t have to be your favourite genre or artist for it to be the better one either. Ignorance is not bliss. Respecting others gives you respect in return.

Met Gala 2014: The Best and Worst

Fashion’s biggest night of the year, if you don’t already know, occurred May 5, 2014. The fundraising event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is a night where the dress is the most important aspect of any guest. Hosted by Vogue, the Met Gala, aka Met Ball, celebrated and fund-raised for the Met’s Costume Institute for the opening of their Fashion Exhibit. Raising nearly $9 million last year, it’s an important night for celebrities to dress extravagantly.

Here’s the top Best and Worst dressed of the night…

Worst

1. Donatella Versace

Yup, I just threw up on her dress. And that’s exactly why it looks like that. Even that’s not a good enough excuse for this disaster. She always wears strange pieces, but I just couldn’t let this one pass bye. She looks like she’s about to go visit aliens in space, because that’s where this dress belongs.

2. Kirsten Dunst

This isn’t the Star Wars premiere. This just had way too much going on and needs to be buried. Donatella’s meeting her up in space.

3. Kristen Stewart

4 random fabrics of the same color piled on top of each other. Really Kristen? Really Chanel? (BTW in all reality, love Kristen with the orange hair)

4. Kate Upton

C’mon, Kate. I definitely think more highly of smoking babes. But then again, she’s usually not quite dressed at all. Little-miss-bo-peep, go back to you pasture.

5. Maggie Gyllenhaal

She kind of looks like she’s wearing a curtain she stole from the That 70s Show set. This is just way too much polka dots. The collar on the top is too casual and the colors are too blah. And the cape to match… Really… There’s no fixing this dress.

6. Elizabeth Olsen

Elizabeth, did you join figure skating? Will I see you in the next winter Olympics? Hopefully not. Unbelievably unflattering and too light for her skin tone. Adorable shoes, wrong dress.

7. Katie Holmes

Oh Katie…. (sigh), shriveled like a rotten peach.. This dress explains itself.

8. Lupita Nyong’o

This is a night to look like a princess, not a flapper. I am seriously disappointed after her fashionable past. Although, as always, she knows what colors glow on her flawless skin (and I’m a sucker for her shoes!).

9. Rita Ora

Lets not even start on the shoes. And the ridiculous arm wrap. Do I possibly need to say anymore?

Best

1. Cara Delevingne

She doesn’t even need an extravagant ball gown to be a stunning beauty. She may not be dressed traditionally for this event, overall she looks amazing. Sporting the latest crop top and high-waist – well, anything! – trend, she looks sophisticated yet sexy. A stunner .

2. Joan Smalls

The blue lipstick was daring and fab – The Vera Wang gown gorgeously fitting her like she’s just in her skin. Possibly #1 best.

3. Emma Stone

Oh Emma, you make the fashion world go round in this Thakoon outfit. Simple yet elegant. The top could have been a bit less casual for the occasion, but still hits all the right spots.

4. Victoria Beckham

In her own design, Mrs. Beckham always (usually) takes the right turns in fashion, and did in this amazing piece. It’s clear: the plain and simple are winning the race this year.

5. Suki Waterhouse

This Burberry gown is true beauty. It’s the perfect amount.

6. Emmy Rossum

Floral’s are huge this Spring and Summer, and Emmy made all the right choices in this gorgeous Carolina Herrera gown. Bring on the  sunshine and tea parties.

7. Kendall Jenner

A huge fan of the rising model, I didn’t expect anything less than perfection. In Topshop, Kendall fits the gown perfectly, and the gown fits Kendall. The Stunning Chopard necklace was adds to the sophisticated look.

8. Blake Lively

The already stunning actress blew my mind away in this Gucci gown. There are no real words to describe this beauty.

9.Karolina Kurkov

Giant, and giant-ly breathtaking. What a perfect gown for this event. My top #1 of the night, this dress represents exactly what this event is all about. I couldn’t imagine this gown on anyone else. Cant get enough of this.

10. Sarah Jessica Parker

Fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de la Renta. She always goes big and crazy and always makes it look fabulous. Her hair is gorgeous and the gown just screams ‘Met Ball 2014’. My second favorite gown of the night, doing the Met Gala gown tradition right.
