Jacket: Zara Man [I stole this from my boyfriend
I will admit – I over wear this jacket. You could say our bond is like that of a squirrel with nuts in winter – unbreakable (I have no idea where that analogy came from). This was my grandfathers jacket from back in the 50s when he served in the army. Pretty neat, right? Most people are pretty surprised by that. I’ve managed to make it into a vintage fashion statement
shocker and match it with just about everything. The rest was history!
p.s. – the first day I wore these tights I tore a hole in them (typical), and so instead of throwing them away, I tore more! Now I have a sick nasty pair of badass punk tights.
I fell in love with this dress as soon as I laid eyes on it, but it also immediately became problematic. It’s completely made out of mesh and came with no insert piece to hide everything going on underneath. I figured the dress was worth the trouble and went on an intensive hunt for a black slip – but I fell short. Oddly enough, I threw the dress on over some jeans and came out with this little number. I decided to keep it low-key casual this New Year instead of falling into the stereotypical glitz and glam that surrounds it. Black and red is timeless. Sadly, these heels are no longer available from Urban, so I was unable to link them, but I added in a cute winter alternative up there. (I scored these babies on a last minute clearance sale for $19
it’s too bad they hurt like a bitch. )
Happy New Year, everyone!
These pictures are up there with some of my favorite pictures I have ever had taken for my blog. I know, the main focus is supposed to be the outfit, but how could it be when the backdrop is that beautiful? Santa Barbara, you never cease to amaze me. And this outfit fitted the occasion perfectly.
These F21 lace up sandals originally had tassels on the ends but it looked cheap (I mean, it is Forever21) so I pulled them off. Of all shorts I own these are my favorite, but unfortunately American Apparel’s online store is down at the moment until their new line comes out, and I got these babies a few years ago. They are the most flattering fitting high-waisted shorts! This shirt I also bought when I was in high school, which was… well, a long time ago. This is the perfect example of why sometimes you should just hold onto some pieces. I haven’t worn it in years but now love it even more than I originally did!
I have to be the worst ever at coming up with blog post titles… But, Spring has definitely sprung here in northern VA. Actually… it sprung about mid-February. We’ve had a series of 80 degree days and then next day drops to 40. If that isn’t global warming, then I’m not sure what it is…
I was strutting through the streets of this gorgeous historic teeny tiny town with my hardcore sass shoes on. My best friend always brings out the inner sass, confidence, and rawness of my personality – there’s no one I feel more comfortable around, which is why we’re such a good duo! These pictures really capture that. It can be hard to pose well in pictures, especially since it takes a certain amount of ‘into yourself-ness’ about it (… if that’s a thing). This was by far my funnest shoot yet, with the best photographer yet. I can’t wait for all of our trips through little historical towns in glam outfits to continue. Here’s to more Zara, lipstick, and sass!

This is by far my favorite top – ever. While visiting my grandma this summer I decided to do some snooping through her closet and took it into my own hands to inherit a few things (; In my suitcase back to DC I had managed to bring this top and a plain white one just like it, as well as a curtain (I know, sounds weird, right? Lets save that for a different post). My grandmother is a bigger woman, which explains the size, but I adore oversized clothes – adore being the understatement of the year. There’s nothing like a classic red lip and a polka dot top – so vintage chic! I’ve never really owned anything vintage in my life so I cherished this top over summer, wearing it far too often. Surprisingly, it matched everything, or I was just wearing it with everything – either way, in the words of my best friend, it was tres chic. Unfortunately for me (but luckily just at the turn of fall (; ) my grandma called in a rage saying it was her favorite top and she needed it shipped back to her before her doctors appointment so she could look cute for her hunk of a doctor. So, bye-bye to my polka-dotted love. Until next summer!
