If You’re Not Following This IGer, You Need to Reevaluate Your Feed…

With all the celebrities, insta-famous fashion bloggers and beauty gurus, I find myself feeling pretty down after a long scroll through social media. ‘How can she look that good, all the time!?’ ‘Is that even real!? Ugh, clearly it’s real it’s on Insta!!’ Which is exactly the opposite of the truth, but through all the filters and selfie poses, Instagram makes the unreal more than real. I always find it most interesting to look through the “Explore” section, as a lot of what appears there is catered to the type of Instagram’s you follow and those in relation to the people you follow, and was passing my boredom away with a look-through of mine, which of course contained make-up tutorials, models, and fitness junkies. But to my surprise and excitement, I landed upon the ridiculously funny and sarcastic account of Celeste Barber, an actor who took to Instagram to mock celebrities and their ridiculous lifestyles and photos. Hysterical captions and crazy faces, Celeste has earned herself a large following of over 800,000 users. Automatically I had to follow her and had to write this post to share with all of you; if anyone even for a second is made to feel self conscious and out down by any celebrity of insta-figure, you need to be following Celeste. In fact, regardless of your care for celebrities, or your feed, for a laugh and some realism, you need to be following her.

“I seem to have lost my clothes. Again.”

Not only does she mock celebrities ridiculous pictures in unrealistic outfits and poses and relates them to your real life daily human being, but she also reveals the flaws in the outlook of our current culture, calling out the facts on pictures like both of Kourtney and Kim Kardashian’s revealing posts:

“This is a photo I’m recreating of @kourtneykardash. I’m pretty sure we are promoting talent, strength, and women’s empowerment. Not just sex, as I originally thought.”

“Real love is perfect, flawless, acrobatic, stylised, timed and photogenic.”

And the unrealistic idea that this picture of Kim and Kanye is at all normal, because let’s be honest, it isn’t and all because they are the celebrities that they are does not make it at all class[y].

Lastly, my favorite, this hysterical caption about what all of us really go through during flights…

“Thank you @virginaustralia for sitting me in between 2 men who were 6 weeks into their ‘depderant is for losers’ regime. And a big #shoutout to #jetsmart for f*cking NOTHING.”

Overall her sarcastic wit and realism sheds light on these not-so-realistic celebrity lifestyles and lets us all remember that we are all human and it’s okay.

Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet Looks…

Celebrities wandered through the Billboard Music Awards ‘pink’ carpet in Las Vegas this past Sunday, and this years trend of glitz, skin and thigh high heels is still traveling on. The night was hosted by Ciara who in a matter of three hours, wore seven different outfits and looked unbelievable in every single one. So to start off the list of my best and worst dressed of the night…

billboard-music-awards-red-carpet-dresses-2016

Ciara in Philipp Plein – Clearly winning at everything, including Best Side-Boob Award.

demi-lovato

Demi Lovato in Chanel – She’s always pulling off amazing looks that aren’t your typical carpet gowns. Go Demi!

zendaya

Zendaya in Calvin Klein – Can I just mention her brows? *faints*

halsey

Halsey in Fausto Puglisi – I love the off-beat unique-ness of this dress with the change in shoulder straps and array of jeweled designs, and she rocks it!

kelly-rowland

Kelly Rowland in Labourjoisie – Making a debut in the sheer, sequined department, the trends getting a bit old but it’s still stunning and everyone looks so good in it, including her.

mila-kunis

Mila Kunis in Zuhair Murad – Looking like such an adorable gem!

jessica-alba

Jessica Alba also in Zuhair Murad and Stuart Weitzman – (Zuhair Murad is killing it, incase you couldn’t tell)

kesha

Kesha in Gucci – The star typically struts carpets in the most unique of ensembles and she addressed Sunday nights appearance with the same memo, and looks amazing! That fringe – killer. Lets not forget the Gucci shoes *swoon*.

lucy-hale

Lucy Hale in Zuhair Murad – Damn, Murad really is killing it (talk about the understatement of the week). Going to make a mural in his honor next to my bed as we speak.

Now getting to the looks I didn’t quite prefer…

rihanna

Rihanna in vintage Thierry Mugler – I’m sorry, but I was greatly disappointed by this and had to add it in here due to the fact of my disappointment. Rihanna, who is always turning heads at every event for her style choices looked somewhat like a medieval grandma this past weekend, in the most beautiful way, but regardless…

britney-spears

Britney Spears in Reem Acra and Schutz heels – Yes, she’s totally killing it at 34, but this was just not flattering on her at all. She already has short, muscular legs, and the thigh high heels just make her look shorter and stockier. Kudos to her though, for still being the total babe she was in her younger years, now.

kathryn-hahn

Kathryn Hahn in Altuzarra  – This is not at all flattering to her body shape. Not only that, but the abrupt change in design/fabric (looks somewhat like a top and a skirt together) has a strange shape that’s lacking some flow. This could be amazing, just not on her.

Plaid Shirt: Charlotte Rousse (last season)

It’s an extremely gloomy, rainy day here in DC. As soon as I was ready to take some pictures, it started to pour 😦 Lucky enough, it cleared for the rest of the night! My lovely boyfriend was my photographer and actually did so much better than I expected! Although he made fun of me most of the time, I think I’ll keep him (; This is such a casual chic outfit that can be worn for a night out, or with a pair of sneakers for a day having lunch with some friends. I haven’t had many opportunities to expand my closet recently (aka go shopping :P) so I’ve done a lot of playing around with the pieces I have. I think that’s one of the key necessities to being a stylish individual. Spending isn’t always available and we don’t all get clothes for free like the many blogger inspirations we see with new pieces nearly every other day. Making the most of the pieces you have is key. One pair of jeans can make 5 different significant outfits that never look the same! Keep an open mind 🙂

Met Gala 2015…

The Met Gala calls for big, elegant, timeless classic gowns. This years was China themed. It’s one of my favourite red carpet events because of the beautiful classic sophisticated looks. The chances of you seeing Miley Cyrus half naked with a blunt in her hand are just extremely unlikely (this, is a good thing my friends). I’m all about tastefulness and so is this night. Here are some of my favourite looks from the carpet that you’ll definitely want to see…

Kanye Strikes Again, This Time With His Sassy Sidekick

Many of us have (probably) watched the 4 hour long 2015 Grammy Awards this past Sunday, and even if you haven’t you’ve most likely seen the infamous disrespectful comments made by Kanye on Beck winning the Best Album award over Beyonce.

If not, here’s the low down:

Beck (a group, to be honest, I’ve never heard of) won the Best Album award over Beyonce. After Kanye’s storming onto stage a few years back when Taylor Swift won over Beyonce, he started to pull the same act, but slowly turned around, laughed, and went back to his seat.

Now I thought, of all things, that he was just joking; simply making a mockery of himself and his stupidity in the past.

No. This, in fact, is not true.

After the show, he fed the media his opinion:

“I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us,” West said (via Vanity Fair). “We ain’t going to play with them no more. ‘Flawless.’ Beyoncé’s video. And Beck needs to respect artistry, and he should have given his award to Beyoncé…At this point, we tired of it. What happens is, when you keep on diminishing art, and not respecting the craft, and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration. We, as musicians, have to inspire people who go to work every day, and they listen to that Beyoncé album, and they feel like it takes them to another place. Then they do this promotional event, and they’ll run the music over somebody’s speech, the artist, because they want commercial advertising. No. We not playing with them anymore. And by the way, I got my wife, my daughter, and I got my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing that would put my daughter at risk, but I am here to fight for creativity. That’s the reason why I didn’t say anything tonight. But you all knew what it meant when ‘Ye walked on that stage.” (Huffington Post)

Lets also recap the buzz around his wife, Kim Kardashian, and her disgusting post on Instagram:

Screen Shot 2015-02-11 at 1.25.32 PM

In all honesty, when I saw this, I truly wanted to vomit.

I can say, as a person who has never heard a piece of Beck’s music in my life, who listens to and enjoy’s Beyonce’s music, THIS REACTION IS BEYOND WRONG and COMPLETELY immature. It’s disgusting and sets such a disgusting example for people watching. Not only is she speaking her opinion, which is fine in ways, just classier ways than this, but she is putting it out there that John Legend and Chrissy Tegan also have these same opinions and reactions, when that isn’t true. She’s creating more drama for other people. Here’s John Legends response to it all … John Legend via Instagram. Everyone has their opinions, their favourites, etc. And Kanye dragged on long about the Grammy’s “respecting artists”, well isn’t that just a contradiction? (*severe sarcastic tone intended*)

He went out of his way on more than one occasion to disrespect other artists and their work, because his butt-buddy didn’t win. And THEN has the audacity to blame it on the Grammy’s. When, the way the Grammy’s work is, other artists vote for who they want to win.

So even if he is angry, has a different opinion, and thinks that Beyonce deserved to win, it doesn’t matter. Other artists that are in the same industry as him and have similar respects to music as him voted for Beck. All because he didn’t get his way doesn’t mean he should go publicly disrespecting other people.

And as for his wife, in her shimmering robe that she wore, who is only famous for being a sex symbol from her sex tape and various actions, she needs to get a grip of herself and her actions because she is plummeting the status of society. She has the money to make a change in society, to donate to charities, to work with the homeless, the starving, to travel and help people, yet she spends her time judging people and subjects she’s clueless about, posting naked pictures and setting a bad example for all young girls who look up to her (including her daughter) and setting a standard for boys around the world, and getting surgeries to enhance her face, ass and breasts. All she knows how to be is self absorbed. Shame on her. And I don’t mean to be the bully in this situation either, she’s a beautiful woman, she can make her own decisions, but that doesn’t make them right or acceptable, yet all at the same time, because she’s making these decisions, they are becoming acceptable. And it truly needs to stop. In more words on this topic, please check out this amazingly written piece by Christine Lee, “An Open Letter to Kim Kardashian“.

Bullying isn’t acceptable. Getting your way isn’t always going to happen. That’s life. A song doesn’t to be played on the radio at least 10 times a day to be the better one. It doesn’t have to be your favourite genre or artist for it to be the better one either. Ignorance is not bliss. Respecting others gives you respect in return.

An Open Letter to All Models ‘Bullying’ Kendall Jenner

Hey everyone!

I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and saw a sponsored-type post about a struggling models letter to Kendall Jenner, and after reading it, I was left simply frustrated. (Here’s the full letter –> An Open Letter To Kendall Jenner About Her Model ‘Bullying’) Overall, the letter wrote to express to Kendall the daily and total life struggle of an every day model working for a spot on the big runway, and how hard life can be for them. She points out how frustrating it can be to other models who have done so much to get a call and then get pushed aside for someone like Kendall, who (presumably) just walks in to whatever she wants and simply gets it because of her families fame and fortunes.

Here’s my outlook on it all:

In many, many, many interviews Kendall has pointed out that modeling is her passion and her dream and something completely separate and singular from her sisters and the show, and that she wants her own light aside in the fashion industry. Not only did she say that, but she mentioned her struggle to be as successful has she has lately and how hard she has had to work for her spot on the runway.

Here are just a couple of interviews where Kendall expresses her journey to catwalk fame: ABC – Kendall Jenner Opens Up About Modeling, teenVogue – KJ in All of Her Up-and-Coming Mega Model Glory

This rant can be understandable, especially from my point of view because on a, most likely weekly basis, I get a bit annoyed with the 17-year-olds driving around in brand new Audi’s and Mercedes’ with no work to be done, while I’m working twelve hours a day to pay for my 2000 Lexus and a community college degree. Yeah, it sucks having to make your way to the top with no support and seeing other people walk into amazing opportunities with no understanding of appreciation and hard work because of their lucky birth rights, but that’s life and life isn’t fair. There’s nothing you or anyone can do to change the individual life that each of us lead and no way to change our born fortunes. And neither I, nor any other opinionated less fortunate individual have the right to comment on the fortunate lives and presume that they don’t understand the worth and don’t apprecaite the things they are handed. We don’t know them personally, do we?

But lets ask one thing – If writer Arisce Wanzer, wants Kendall to be so understanding of a per-say ‘regular’ models trek to success, and wants Kendall to see from their point of view, then maybe she should take a look from Kendall’s, and try to be understanding of her life.

It isn’t her fault she was born into fame and money and if she wasn’t she is still beautiful and fit to be a model and would be a successful one, regardless of her fortunes. So I don’t agree with this at all and I think it’s completely ignorant.

What do you think?

VMA Style You DON’T Want to Miss

The VMA’s are always a night that tends to be filled with celebrity drama — I mean, what award show doesn’t have some drama? But these celebrity red carpet looks are the type you definitely don’t want to miss; from the major NO-NO’s to the ultra rad looks that will never be forgotten, and some sexy attire that has hit the trend meter, check them out here:

Lets start off with Riff Raff & Katy Perry. This is a look the pair will certainly be remembered for throughout style history, as was Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s infamous look from the 2001 American Music Awards. They pulled off the look quite well, and even got Britney’s approval.

article-0-20C5592200000578-104_634x849 article-0-20C53EB900000578-19_634x1083

This next look is one that I definitely feel could have been pulled off a bit better with someone who has a little more height. Kim Kardashian in this short, beaded dress looks too much like an oompah oomph (no offense Kim!). The dress itself is gorgeous, but she was showing too much cleavage and almost drowned in the largeness of the sleeves. She is already a very short, small woman as it is and this dress didn’t help, especially paired with the high ankle heels, which resulted in her legs looking even shorter.

kim-kardashian-mtv-vma-20141 kim-kardashian-mtv-vma-2014

Jennifer Lopez looked absolutely stunning in her revealing Charbel Zoe gown. Looking younger than ever, she is in amazing shape and has no worry showing off a bit of skin!

jennifer-lopez-mtv-vma-2014-2jennifer-lopez-mtv-vma-20141

Kendall Jenner looking amazing, as usual, in this Alon Livne mesh top and high waisted pant. Fabulous style is her second nature!

kendall-jenner-mtv-vma-20141

I was very impressed in Nick Jonas’s unique suit, and of course had to add him into this post simply because of his fabulous Rhode Islander girlfriend, Olivia Culpo. Who couldn’t love her!?

olivia-culpo-nick-jonas-mtv-vma-2014

Ariana Grande channelled her inner sexy side in this tiny, leather Moschino dress (well, she is tiny) and her signature thigh high boots. She still looks adorable! (Don’t forget to check out her new album My Everything, which just came out last night! Get it here –> http://smarturl.it/ArianaMyEvrythnDlxDA …   It’s just as amazing as her xo)

ariana-grande-mtv-vma-2014

Sarah Hyland looked unbelievably STUNNING in this Kaufmanfranco dress. This was absolutely my favorite look of the night.

sarah-hyland-mtv-vma-2014

To be honest, I didn’t know Charli XCX was wearing a onesie or an outfit for a build-a-bear. Not impressed with this look at all, and don’t expect many of you with fashion taste to love this look either.

charli-xcx-mtv-vma-2014

Another look that had me gasping “No – no really, WHY” is Amber Rose. This is just way too revealing in the worst ways. She looks like a stripper, ready for the best performance of her life.

amber-rose-amber-rose-mtv-vma-2014

Solange Knowles looking gorgeous in H&M. From hair-to-toe, she rocks this look amazingly.

solange-knowles-amber-rose-mtv-vma-2014

Both Jourdan Dunn and Victoria Justice (and the little bow ties on her heels- so cute!), wearing crop top pieces and long skirts, looked stunning in their ensembles. jourdan-dunn-mtv-vma-20141 victoria-justice-amber-rose-mtv-vma-2014

Although the entire night did seem like the Beyonce Music Awards, I give the woman some credit on her Press gown. She looked amazing (as usual).

beyonce-red-dress-side-mtv-vmas-2014

A few moments of the night that can’t be forgotten:

Nicki Minaj humping the floor with dancers to her new song, “Anaconda.” If you haven’t seen it yet, youtube it. It won’t be hard to find.

nicki-minaj-vma-2014-mtv-video-music-awards-11

Another moment created by the infamous Nicki Minaj was during her performance with Usher, as he knelt down and bumped his head against her butt during their performance.
