DC Fashion Event Recap…

(TOP: Missguided, SKIRT: Zara, SHOES: Michael kors)
I went to a DC Fashion week networking event and fashion show this past Thursday and had so much fun! My friend and I spent the day in DC before the event and took in the gorgeous waterfront view and couldn’t resist stopping at Georgetown Cupcakes (of course :P)

The night consisted of a restaurant/bar absolutely packed to the edges with other photographers, models, bloggers, etc. all from the area. Although it was hard to get a chance to socialize (everyone was way too focused on the runway in the middle of the room) we had so much fun! i’d have to say the best part of it all way seeing what the other guests around me chose to wear. Granted, the fashion show was great to see as it was aspiring college designers in school, I was crazy interested in the personal style of fashionistas around me. Having your own taste is the best part of being stylish! Everyone can bring something different to the table!

Online Favourites…

A friends recently asked me what my favorite online shopping sites were, and that got me thinking, I have tons I would love to share with all of you! So there are the basics… such as Topshop, Zara, Asos, River Island, etc. but I thought I would take this time to share with you some of my favorites that you might not have ever heard of. So here are my top 10 favorite online stores (in no specific order, and disclosing the previous ones just stated which I absolutely adore :P), and a few of my current favorite pieces from them…

ps. you can click on each photo to view it on the website ❤

This is an Australian store, and it’s about to be summer there so all of their items are summer related. They still have great pieces and can get their winter items on sale when their season is over! What a win!

Plaid Shirt: Charlotte Rousse (last season)

It’s an extremely gloomy, rainy day here in DC. As soon as I was ready to take some pictures, it started to pour 😦 Lucky enough, it cleared for the rest of the night! My lovely boyfriend was my photographer and actually did so much better than I expected! Although he made fun of me most of the time, I think I’ll keep him (; This is such a casual chic outfit that can be worn for a night out, or with a pair of sneakers for a day having lunch with some friends. I haven’t had many opportunities to expand my closet recently (aka go shopping :P) so I’ve done a lot of playing around with the pieces I have. I think that’s one of the key necessities to being a stylish individual. Spending isn’t always available and we don’t all get clothes for free like the many blogger inspirations we see with new pieces nearly every other day. Making the most of the pieces you have is key. One pair of jeans can make 5 different significant outfits that never look the same! Keep an open mind 🙂

Ocean Breeze…

Dress: Mono B (register & check out their pieces!)

I found this gorgeous dress in a little boutique in downtown Bristol, RI. It’s so incredibly stunning in the simplest way! It’s very thin and breezy, and makes me feel oh-so-glam (; It has a very tiny slight lift in the front and drape in the back so it’s never a bother when walking around. It’s up there with my top 3 favourite pieces this summer! And I found it on sale! (my mom bought it for me, thanks mom :P) I’m not the biggest fan of maxi dresses but this one is killer! I paired it with this gorgeous gold statement necklace that I got last winter in another Boutique in Bristol called Jackies Loft. Gold is a great color with this dress! When I tried it on in the store I was wearing a gold body chain underneath and it looked stunning!

Angel Flow…

  Dress: Marshalls

Everything about this dress makes me feel like an angel. So crazy, but I feel so simplistically beautiful when I’m wearing it and can’t say I’ve felt that way about many things. It’s quite see through, so I wear it as a bathing suit cover up – or more like I wear a bathing suit underneath just so I can wear the dress 😛 I’m all about shift dresses this summer and this white looks amazing with a tan! (And was only $10!!!) Marshalls always has some amazing finds! Xo, A

Crochet & Sunny Days…

Tank: Hollister

Shorts: American Apparel

Sandals: H&M

Bag: H&M (similar here)

Sunnglasses: RayBan

Puppy Necklace: Francescas

Today was a day spent relaxing, taking the dog for a walk and walking through town with my little siblings; which perfectly explains this super casual, comfortable outfit. I’ve wanted a crochet tank top for awhile now and came across this one in Hollister. This style tank is great to dress up or down, to throw on over your swimsuit or to tuck half into a jean 70s button down style skirt (American Apparel has a cute one here). It’s one of my favourite go-to pieces in my summer wardrobe!

Fashion Blogger Spotlight: That Pommie Girl

Instagram is my favorite place to explore new stores and bloggers. I always find the best deals, special/unique brands, and outfit inspiration. One of my favorite bloggers of the moment is Sarah Ashcroft, the UK fashion blogger for That Pommie Girl. She doesn’t only have to-die-for style, but her makeup is always gorgeous! Trust me, I wouldn’t waste your time… Her page is really worth checking out. She posts makeup tutorial videos on youtube, and even gives you pay-day inspiration from multiple different stores. In case you’re just a bit curious, here are some of my recent favorite looks from her page…

Dress Like You’re Already Famous

Hey guys!
Sorry I haven’t posted – I’ve been working non-stop! (Literally lol)
Awhile ago I saw this post of a quote on Instagram (via LoveofLabels ) saying, “Dress like you’re already famous”, and I loved it! Then, I got to thinking… I admire all of the celebrities and their streetstyle – casual heels and jeans; crop tops and low rise jeans; skin tight plain/casual skirts and tops… But is this really an acceptable societal normal for the average person? (not that any of you are average, I mean in the way that we aren’t celebrities under the spotlight with high fashion expectations)
To the mall and lunch with a girl friend, is a pair of heels and jeans or a spandex tight skirt, normal?
I guess as an adult, like my mom per say, who is 40 and a working woman and mother of 5, wearing heels with everything on a daily basis is normal. But as myself, the 20 year old college student who aspires to dress the best, is it really an accepted norm?
For instance, Kendall and Kylie Jenner who are even still teenagers, go out in their heels and skirts, crop tops, and majority of their skin showing, but yet still in the most classy fashionable way. They look normal and casual chic. But I can’t get past the fact that as an average shaped, sized, human not walking on the streets of LA or NYC, I don’t truly believe that this is an normal acceptance in society.
Do you think one can dress as a celeb on an average day and pull it off as an acceptable, classy, casual look?

Let me know your thoughts!
– A xo
