Invincible…

It’s a funny thing

How  when we’re out of love and all alone,

Our hearts feel like they

Can never be broken again,

And what an invincible feeling that is.

But

It’s a funny thing

How when we’re falling in love and are treasured,

Our hearts feel like they

Are finally full,

And what an invincible feeling that is.

Sweater: Banana Republic (similar here)

Dress: Hollister (similar here)

Heels: Aldo (similar here)

I love the whole concept of wearing a sweater over a dress! It gives you a cozy, effortlessly chic look and is so unique! This sweater is a bit short on me, so it was perfect to wear over this dress, which has a waist that flares around the tummy area. This could go the same for a skirt and sweater combo. It’s great for sunny, yet chilly Autumn days for a meeting over some coffee or a lunch date. Try this trick at home!

DC Fashion Event Recap…

(TOP: Missguided, SKIRT: Zara, SHOES: Michael kors)
I went to a DC Fashion week networking event and fashion show this past Thursday and had so much fun! My friend and I spent the day in DC before the event and took in the gorgeous waterfront view and couldn’t resist stopping at Georgetown Cupcakes (of course :P)

The night consisted of a restaurant/bar absolutely packed to the edges with other photographers, models, bloggers, etc. all from the area. Although it was hard to get a chance to socialize (everyone was way too focused on the runway in the middle of the room) we had so much fun! i’d have to say the best part of it all way seeing what the other guests around me chose to wear. Granted, the fashion show was great to see as it was aspiring college designers in school, I was crazy interested in the personal style of fashionistas around me. Having your own taste is the best part of being stylish! Everyone can bring something different to the table!

Lovely Words: Rebeka Anne

I haven’t done one of these LW posts in awhile, but have been drooling over Rebeka Anne’s poetry these past few weeks. She gets to the depths of the soul and really expresses love in a beautiful way! Im such a sucker for poetry, and she has by far became one of the best poets I’ve came across. I discovered her on tumblr. You can visit her tumblr page @AnneIsRestless and see more of her poetry here… Now here are a few of my favourite pieces by her… Enjoy!

soul mates

“I’m leaving you. After months of
waking up loving you just as much
if not more than the night before,
I’ve realized you’re the one. My
soul mate. So I’m leaving you
because as it is, this will never
work. I saw the light at the end
of the tunnel in you – heaven in
the palm of your hand – and I
knew I wasn’t ready. We’re not
ready. My insides are still too
twisted, you haven’t ticked
enough boxes on your bucket
list and I’m not willing to lose
you over bad timing. I’m leaving
you, and I hope you never delete
my number from your phone,
and I hope one day when I call
you will be waiting.”

morning

“Dear lover. Dear songbird. Dear
sweet sign that something good
is coming, I’m writing to tell you
that nothing has felt as warm as
you smiling at me. I’m writing
to tell you that sometimes you
hear the birds before you can
see the sun rising and that my
night has been so long. Long and
deep. Deep and dark. Dear
morning, I’m writing to tell you
I heard you and I’m running to
you and I don’t know what’s coming but it’s good.”

I’d still choose your cold over anything else

“I could be writing a poem
about hurt, about how it’s
disappointing to open the
windows on a sunny day and
have it be cold. All I can say
is that you are daylight and
that it’s always enough, even
if the bitterness stings.”

the crazy things we do

“So instead of saying I love you
just to hear you say it back, I tie
myself up on a railroad. I lock
myself up in a tower, I fall
asleep and promise you there
is no way to wake me other
than to push your stubborn
mouth against mine. And you
do. A thousand times, and then
a thousand times more after
that and you wonder why I
can’t ever seem to save myself.
And I wonder why you can’t
just tell me you love me so I can
stop making excuses for you to
show it.”

Roxy Summer…

Top: Wrapsody Triangle Halter

Bottom: Wrapsody Cheeky Scooter

Body Chain: Ali Express

This Roxy bikini set is so gorgeous and so comfortable to wear. The salmon color literally glows in the sun and made me look so sun-kissed. It is by far my favourite bikini yet and I will highly recommend it to anyone! The back detail is simple yet gorgeous and the bottoms have good coverage yet are a bit flirty! Plus, there’s no other way I love to feel on the beach than comfortable, girly and sexy yet still have that salty surfer look. I wasn’t sure about Body Chains, so I bought a few cheap ones from Ali Express to try them out. Granted, each and every one of them fell apart after about a half an hour and were all too big in size (short torso problems :/) but none of that changed how amazing they looked on! To find some good body chains, check out my Summer Must Haves post where I featured some of the best ones I’ve found.

p.s. body chains look amazing under tanks, low neck shirts, dresses, etc.!

Feeling a lot of black, white and nude colors lately. It seems that the current ‘in’ is simplicity in the most elegant form. Hope this inspires your week!  (All picture sources can be found on my Tumblr Page…. www.stylestudiesx.tumblr.com )

Mom Jeans…

Shirt: H&M

Jeans: Missguided (50% off!!!)

Sandals: River Island (on sale!!)

Sunnies: RayBan

Polka Dot Bra-let: Forever 21 (similar here)

Gold Layered Necklace: AliExpress

I’ve never had a pair of “mom” jeans until these and to be honest I was a bit fearful of the way they may fit (and returns to another country is just stress that none of us really need) but I adore Missguided and fit in their other jeans well, so I gave it a shot. Although they’re somewhat loose in the upper area and below the tooshie, that’s how they’re supposed to fit. It took some getting used to but I love them and feel so 90s chic! The top is actually a tunic in which I had to fold up a bit and knot in the front. I’m all about knotted tops right now! It’s so easy to do and can add some flare and cropped style to practically any normal top. Hope you like it.
